Residents of Scunthorpe care home Bridgewater Park, have been demonstrating their artistic talent in an art exhibition.

The care centre, which provides residential, nursing and dementia care for older people, held a week long art exhibition to highlight and celebrate the great work they do.

Residents at the care centre created different pieces of art work, from collages to paintings, for the exhibition.  They were rewarded by a visit from Councillor Sue Armitage, the Mayor of Scunthorpe, who officially opened the exhibition.  The Mayor commented that the work was "extremely creative."  She took a tour of the care centre and met many of the residents. Healthcare professionals from around the region and residents families were invited to the opening.

Bridgewater Park has a varied activities programme in which arts and crafts plays a major part.  Activities coordinator Jean Pearce said, "The residents find doing art and crafts activities very enjoyable and relaxing, they get great pleasure from the creative process as well as the end results."  The art was for sale and all the pieces were sold, raising over £200 for the residents' activities fund.

Care centre manager Julie Moult added, "Our residents were thrilled to have their art on display to be seen by all visitors.  The residents are currently working on Christmas cards which are also on display at the care centre.  Visitors are always welcome, so everyone should feel free to call in and take a look."
