Holiday on the Doorstep

Published 20th July 2012

Residents at Lauren Court have recently been on a Holiday – on their Doorstep!

Holiday on your Doorstep is a yearly event for older people organised by the Holy Trinity Church. Lauren Court residents are invited every year to join in activities, enjoy entertainment and go on a day trip.

This yearly event takes place in the local community centre where Lauren Court residents go to the local tea dance every Tuesday afternoon and where residents have made many friends over the past years.

Holiday on your Doorstep takes place over three days and our residents joined the local community for three days of fun. We attended the community centre from 10am – 4pm, we enjoyed lunch together and were treated to afternoon tea. Residents took part in many activities including beetle drive, flower arranging, quizzes, and were even entertained by the musical talents of the Drew Sisters. Beautiful flower arrangements were made by our residents and were brought back to Lauren Court to display in reception and on the dining room tables as centre pieces.

On one of the days there was an arranged trip out to New Brighton. Everyone enjoyed lunch at the Floral Garden Pavilion in New Brighton, and after lunch took a leisurely walk along the sea front and visited the local rock shop.

A fantastic three days was had by all and residents said they are already looking forward to next year’s ‘Holiday’.
