Healthcare homes for the elderly with Meridian

Our approach to nursing care homes

When it comes to choosing a home for your elderly relative as they enter the next phase of their life, only the best will do. That's why Meridian goes the extra mile to ensure that every aspect of their stay with us is perfect. Comfort, dignity, support and friendliness are the cornerstones of our approach to residential care homes, while of course keeping healthy and active is crucial.

Holistic nursing care

Meridian healthcare homes provide elderly people with 24-hour nursing care, ideal for elderly people who have an illness or disability that requires special attention. Furthermore, we can arrange a visit from your GP, optician, dentist or other medical professional. However, as well as expert medical care, Meridian strives to achieve holistic nursing care, which means our healthcare homes consider every aspect of a resident's wellbeing.

Every day your loved one stays with us, they will be offered a varied menu of hearty and healthy dishes. Mealtimes are always sociable, and the specially-prepared meals are nutritionally balanced, containing plenty of energy. This might prove useful, as Meridian healthcare homes also provide residents with a programme of activities, ranging from games and quizzes to film screenings and gentle keep fit exercises. There are also regular celebration parties for birthdays, anniversaries and charity events; our residents love any excuse to don their party hats and have a knees-up, while family and friends often come along and join the fun.

Healthcare homes for you

But what makes a Meridian elderly care home different to your average home? We pride ourselves on offering an individual, bespoke experience. Every resident at a healthcare home is different, with different medical needs, and so they deserve to be considered as an individual when it comes to nursing care.

No boutique hotel would give its guests a standard, one-size-fits-all experience. Similarly, we like to listen to our residents, to ensure their stay with us is as comfortable as possible. Do you have special dietary requirements? Is your bedroom warm enough? Would you prefer to watch a film or try some armchair aerobics? Would you like your hair done? How do you feel today? We always ask, and we always listen. It's what makes our healthcare homes such happy places to be.

Respite care at a healthcare home

If there is a spare bedroom available, your loved one can stay at a Meridian healthcare home on a temporary basis. This is known as respite care, and an elderly person can join us for just a few days, or a few months if necessary. This is ideal if you're a carer and find yourself temporarily tied down by other commitments, or simply need a break. Your loved one can have a short stay at one of our residential care homes for the elderly, in a comfortable private bedroom with all the cooking and cleaning taken care of. There are also plenty of social activities to enjoy, and lovely gardens to sit out in, so people who join us for short term respite care often feel it's a bit like going on holiday.

Meanwhile, respite services are also available at our nursing care homes. This service is for those recovering from an illness or operation, who aren't ready to go back to their own homes or still need some basic medical care. Personal care such as washing and dressing is provided alongside medical treatments, while qualified nursing staff are on hand 24/7 in case of an emergency. Our nutritional meals, friendly environment and stimulating activities are sure to have your loved one back on their feet in next to no time.
