New Developments

The Oakes in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire - planning permission granted!

Following a consultation process with local people, planning permission was granted by Kirklees Council in February for Meridian's 60 bed care centre in the Oakes area of the city. The development will bring back to life a redundant site, contributing to the long-term regeneration of the area.  Work starts on the site in March 2011 with the demolition of the existing building.  It is hoped that the new care centre will be open for residents during summer 2012.

Millbrook in Stalybridge, Tameside - work well under way

Meridian are delighted to announce a new development planned for the St James' School site in the village of Millbrook, Stalybridge. The development will provide accommodation for up to 45 residents and will provide a luxurious and confortable environment.  Planning was granted by TMBC on 3rd February 2010. Work started in late Spring 2010 with a projected opening of late summer 2011.

Refurbishment & Extensions

April 2011: Kingsfield, Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside

Work will commence from April 2011 on the refurbishment of Kingsfield, a residential and dementia care centre in Ashton.

February 2011: Daisy Nook House, Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside

Daisy Nook House received a full make over to all lounge, dining and communal areas. The refurbishment included the replacement of furniture and a full decoration. Work completed in February 2011.

February 2011: Roby House, Huyton, Knowsley

A further en suite bedroom has been added to Roby House in Huyton. Roby House offers nursing and residential care services.

January 2011: White Rose House, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire

Work started in late January 2011 on the decoration and refurbishment of White Rose House communal areas: areas include all lounge and dining rooms along with corridors and reception.  The project completed in March 2011.

January 2011: Yew Trees, Dukinfield, Tameside

Work started in January 2011 on Yew Trees in Dukinfield. This major refurbishment involves the reconfiguration of space within the care centre to create additional lounge and dining space for clients whilst also creating further en suite bedrooms.

The work at Yew Trees, which provides care for those with advanced dementia, will provide a more ambient environment for residents.

December 2010: Ash Court, Knotty Ash, Liverpool

Ash Court benefits from the addition of 2 large en suite bedrooms both with walk-in showers.  A further en suite shower room has been added to an existing bedroom.The lounge and dining rooms throughout the home have also benefited from a makeover.

The work takes the care centre to 42 bedrooms.

November 2010: Fir Trees, Dukinfield, Tameside

Following refurbishment and development work in November, Fir Trees now boasts an additional large ensuite bedroom. An existing bedroom has also been given a large ensuite walk-in shower.  The care centre now provides accommodation for up to 46 residents and offers mainly ensuite bedrooms.

January 2010: Rievaulx House, Armley, Leeds

A further 2 bedrooms were added to Rievaulx House in Leeds in 2010. The care centre now accommodates up to 50 residential clients. 

Since opening in August 2008, the care centre has generated a lot of interest in the local community, reaching 100% occupancy within 6 months of opening.

November 2009: Holme Lea, Stalybridge, Tameside

Holme Lea residents and staff were delighted that all lounge and dining areas were treated to an upgrade in time for Christmas.  Residents and their families along with local healthcare professionals were invited to a walk-around afternoon in early December. October 2009: Kirkby House, Kirkby, Knowsley

Kirkby House in Knowsley underwent a refubishment programme during early October 2009 which re-developed the lounge and dining areas and improved the general standard of internal decoration throughout the care centre.

March 2009: Westwood Lodge, Wigan

Meridian Healthcare continued its investment programme with impressive refurbishments taking place at Westwood Lodge Nursing and Care Centre in Wigan.

The work follows a major refurbishment programme in 2007 which saw the modernisation of all bedrooms and communal areas. Further redecoration which completed in March 2009 saw the improvement of Westwood House, the smaller unit of Westwood Lodge which encompasses 25 of the care centre's 76 bedrooms.

The refurbishment includes the redecoration of the 25 bedrooms in Westwood House and the updating of furniture in communal areas such as the lounge and dining rooms. Care Centre Manager, Maria Mather commented ahead of the work taking place: 'Residents and relatives are getting very excited about the upgrade as it takes shape. A good environment always helps to enrich the lives of the residents, and also makes the home a nicer place to work for the staff.'
