Residents, staff and relatives at Meridian Healthcare’s Acacia Court Care Centre in Pudsey have been busy over the past month shopping for and collecting gifts to donate to the local Christmas ‘Kids Count Toy Appeal’ for disadvantaged children in West Yorkshire.

Residents were visited by local 96.3 Radio Aire presenter Richard Williams on the 12th December to collect the variety of gifts for children of all ages. The Toy Appeal run by the radio station in partnership with The Yorkshire Evening Post, Magic 828 and Crown Point Shopping Park is in its third year working with with local businesses, schools and other groups it has collected thousands of presents for sick, disabled and underprivileged children in West Yorkshire to share the seasonal magic.

Acacia Court provides residential care for 40 older people who have rallied staff and relatives to donate gifts to this fantastic cause, the collection at Acacia Court was organised by Care Centre Manager Tina Davies, she comments: ‘We heard about the appeal on the local radio and decided to donate, we have been telling everyone we have brushed past in the past couple of weeks to help with the appeal and the amount of people who have brought in gifts for under the Christmas tree has been fabulous. We are glad to have been able to contribute this year and on behalf of everyone here at Acacia Court we wish all of the children a Happy Christmas and hope that the gifts collected by the appeal bring lots of smiles and laughter.’
