Greatwood House’s Pat Crozier received a double surprise on the 16th of October with the presentation of a Gold Employee Merit award and during the ceremony in the Denton home an unexpected visit from local Manchester celebrity Simply Red front man Mick Hucknall.

Care Centre Manager Marie McPherson presented Pat with Meridian Healthcare’s highest employee accolade the Gold Merit Award in a small ceremony in the home with colleagues and residents, however Marie was somewhat upstaged when singer Mick Hucknall entered the home to visit a friend who had looked after him as a child, Mick congratulated Pat and took some time out to pose for souvenir photos with some of the staff.

Pat received a certificate, bouquet of flowers and vouchers to spend on a gift of her choice as part of the award which she says she will use to treat herself to a nice piece of jewellery.

Pat has been described by Greatwood’s residents as: ‘An extremely super care worker, very thoughtful and she goes out of her way to do things for us in a pleasant way.’ Pat has been a Laundry Assistant/ Domestic at Greatwood House for 8 years and is a valued member of the team, Pat enjoys her job and commented: ‘Everyday is different, I am overjoyed at receiving the award as it has come from the comments on feedback cards filled out by the residents, it is nice to feel appreciated and I am a bit overwhelmed.’

Marie comments: ‘Pat is a fantastic member of the team and it is a testament to her friendly, caring character and the commitment to her role that the residents have nominated her for this award, I would like to say congratulations from all of the team at Greatwood and look forward to many more years of working with Pat.’
