PARTY TIME AT KIRKBY HOUSE
With the late summer sun streaming through the patio doors there was live music, dancing and a scrumptious buffet to be enjoyed by all who attended the Care Centre’s open day. Residents and their relatives boogied on the dancefloor and sang along to country music creating an infectious party atmosphere that had everyone’s toes tapping.
Kirkby House currently provides specialist care for up to 44 residents diagnosed with dementia related conditions, the addition of the 4 extra bedrooms has allowed the home to offer their facilities to more older people in the Knowsley area. Care Centre Manager Madeleine Ward commented: ‘All the residents seemed to thoroughly enjoy the party, there is always a buzz of excitement in the air when we organise an event here, it is so nice to see them singing along and up and dancing. The completion of the extra rooms means we can welcome more residents to our home and the addition of the Snoozelum provides our residents a quite room to relax and enjoy the calming atmosphere created by the lighting and accessories designed to stimulate the senses.’
Madeleine adds: ‘This week is cause for a double celebration, as we have recently received confirmation of a new development project that will add another 11 en suite bedrooms to Kirkby House, the work will begin in October and we look forward to welcoming new residents in March 2008.’
