Meridian Healthcare’s Margaret Harrison, Catering Manager at Kingsfield Care Centre in Ashton under Lyne celebrated 30 years long service on the 1st August with her colleagues in a ceremony at the home.

Over the 30 years, Ashton lass Margaret has worked in catering she has enjoyed 20 of them at Kingsfield Care Centre for older people, ‘They’re a friendly bunch’ say Margaret who is looking forward to retiring next year, ‘I have worked with Jean (also a chef) for over 14 years and Rita (Care Centre Manager) ever since I remember, I don’t think they will ever let me go, it is a nice home and we have had some good laughs along the way. I’d like to say thank you for having me to the team but then I know it has been a pleasure!’ she says with a grin.

Care Centre Manager Rita Shockledge presented Margaret with a certificate, badge and a beautiful bouquet of flowers to commemorate her 30 year achievement. In recognition of her long service Margaret was given high street vouchers by Meridian Healthcare for a gift of her choice. Margaret has spent her vouchers on a new watch, gold necklace with a diamond pendant and a vacuum cleaner, which she jokes: ‘The vacuum cleaner is for when I retire and I have time on my hands!’

Rita comments: ‘It is a pleasure working with Margaret, she has a great sense of humour and the kitchen team are great to manage as they work well together and need very little input, they produce fabulous food for the residents they are a credit to the home.’
