Meridian Healthcare’s Diane Wheeler donned her trainers once again last week to take part in the Sheffield ½ Marathon in support of her local charity, Retired Greyhounds of Sheffield.

Diane, a Domestic at April Park Nursing and Care Centre in Eckington is no stranger to running marathons having recently completed a 10K run in April she set her sights on the Sheffield ½ marathon and in doing so has raised £265 for her local Greyhound charity. Diane completed the 13.1 mile run in 2:48.32 and although tired, she thoroughly enjoyed the day and would participate again.

Diane comments: ‘I have been running for years and always enjoy the challenge of a marathon, whatever the length. I like to support local charities and believe their work in the community is invaluable, it is nice that I can raise money for them whilst doing something I love, I can’t wait for the next challenge.’

Diane will be presented with a cheque by Acting Care Centre Manager Carl Stevenson and Operations Manager Mandy Bennett from Meridian Healthcare in support of her run for local charity in a ceremony at April Park next week. Carl comments: ‘All of the staff and residents at April Park are all proud of Diane, we don’t know where she finds the energy from to run so far, many of us certainly couldn’t. We all congratulate her for the completion of the ½ marathon and wish her the best of luck in future challenges.’
