SCRAMBLED DASH MAKES WHITE ROSE WINNERS
Following the success of the pancake race at White Rose House in February, in-house Activities Co-ordinator Julie Hunter and Acting Care Centre Manager Christine devised an Easter rematch for the local builders to offer them the chance to win back some pride after last months loss.
On a sunny Thursday afternoon the course was adorned with banners and residents gathered by the sidelines to cheer on the teams. Sporting corporate colours the White Rose team lined up with the bronzed builders boasting sun tans from a glorious week in Holmfirth, hard hats, yellow bibs and work boots.
And they’re off… throwing the strict rules set down by Julie out of the window eggs started flying everywhere, some rolling away some breaking, were the kitchen staff cheating with some not so boiled entries? The residents were cheering with all their might and putting her knee and elbow pads to good use Christine sped home in record time, another victory sealed for the White Rose Crew.
Upon her victory Christine commented: ‘It was sheer skill! And too many pies for the builders I think. I would like to thank Julie and David for organising and setting up the race and to Graham and his team for being such good sports.’
