LOCAL MP GIVES KIRKBY HOUSE THUMBS UP

23/02/2007
Local Labour MP for Knowsley North and Sefton East, George Howarth visited Meridian Healthcare’s newly refurbished Kirkby House Care Centre on Friday 16th February and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the facility and the ‘warm and supportive atmosphere’ created by the care centre staff.

George Howarth last visited Kirkby House during the 1997 election campaign and is astounded by the difference the £1m refurbishment has made to the care centre. The work included replacing the roof and the addition of 10 new bedrooms to the facility for residents with dementia related conditions. As well as en suite facilities being added to many rooms, all communal areas and bedrooms have been redecorated with fixtures and fittings replaced. A complete rebuild of the reception area into a stunning, bright and welcoming conservatory completes the picture.

Following his tour around Kirkby House Mr Howarth commented: ‘I found the visit hugely encouraging, this is a first class facility, the building itself is fantastic and the warm and supportive atmosphere that is obvious when you walk around is a credit to Care Centre Manager Madeleine Ward and her team. For those reasons I think residents are hugely fortunate in having access to such a great place to live.’
