Meridian Healthcare’s top employee accolade is awarded to David Turner, employee at White Rose House in Holmfirth.

The Gold Employee Merit Award was presented to David on the 24th January 2007 for his dedication and outstanding performance in his maintenance role at the Holmfirth Care Centre, ‘David was awarded Gold because he demonstrates extraordinary commitment to excellence in his work and most importantly has established a special rapport with staff, residents and visitors alike.’ Commented HR Manager, Lorraine Mercer.

Meridian Healthcare’s Employee Merit Award scheme recognises consistent outstanding performance and high levels of service to residents. Awarded quarterly, nominated employees are assessed against strict criteria to determine whether they attain a Gold, Silver or Bronze Award.

There was a look of shock on David’s face when Acting Care Centre Manager Christine Evans announced the award in a meeting attended by White Rose House employees. ‘I am astounded to have won the award, I thought I had simply been doing my job that I enjoy to the best of my ability, the job is a part time interest to me as part of semi retirement, all the staff are friendly and I enjoy sharing a smile with the residents’, said David after the presentation.

David was nominated by his colleagues at White Rose House because of his friendly attitude and the care he shows to both fellow employees and the residents, Christine Evans comments: ‘No job is too much trouble for David, he always has a smile on his face and time for the residents who love him.’ She adds: ‘He is a dream to work with as he finds his own jobs, and generally fixes any problems before I know about them, he is a truly genuine, hardworking person and deserves the award.’

As part of his award David was presented with gift vouchers and a large bottle of champagne, he is delighted and plans to spend the vouchers on some new tools, as for the champagne he intends to take this home and share it with his wife.
