MERIDIAN HEALTHCARE ACQUIRE A NEW CARE CENTRE IN WIGAN

Meridian Healthcare has completed the acquisition of Westwood Lodge Nursing & Care Centre in Wigan. The acquisition comes at a busy time for the management team who also celebrated the registration of newly built Roby House in Huyton.
Delighted Meridian M.D Alan Firth welcomed residents and staff at Westwood Lodge to the group. “Westwood Lodge complements our growing range of facilities and can only add value to our excellent high quality portfolio of care centres.”
The addition of purpose built Westwood Lodge into the group will bring the total number of registered beds owned by Meridian to 1151, making it one of the largest independent healthcare operators in the UK. The newly acquired Westwood Lodge is the first care centre in the Wigan area for Meridian Healthcare who own 5 care centres in nearby Knowsley, including the new purpose built luxury Roby House development in Huyton.
The team at Westwood were awarded the highest accolade by the prestigious RDB quality scheme in 2006 for the quality of care provided. Group Operations Director Susan Firth and Operations Bernice Priest joined Care Centre Manager Maria Mather to welcome staff and residents to Meridian Healthcare on the day of the acquisition. Susan commented, ‘The staff at Westwood Lodge are very experienced and we warmly welcome Maria to our group of managers. We are sure she will be a great addition to the team.’
Meridian Healthcare operates 24 care centres across the North of England offering high quality residential, nursing, respite and day care.
