Delighted residents at Meridian Healthcare are making the move from The Connaughtons in Huyton to the brand new state of the art Roby House next door.

Last weekend residents, many in their 80s, and their families were amongst the first to come and have a look at their new home during an open house weekend. Many residents saw their new rooms and superb facilities for the first time and were amazed and overwhelmed by the development.

Residents will now enjoy a cinema complex, in-house hair studio, relaxation therapy room and of course their own en suite facilities including a shower in many cases. “We are very pleased to be able to provide fabulous surroundings for our residents. Both residents and staff from The Connaughtons have been looking forward to moving in and now the move date is here we are all quite emotional,” commented Pam Case, Manager of the new £3m facility. “The accommodation is so nice and spacious that residents can’t quite believe they are moving in this week.”

Leading care provider Meridian Healthcare started development on the site in August 2005. The award winning company are renowned for their high quality developments and ongoing investment into older people’s services (their facility in Holmfirth was UK winner of Best Development for the Elderly in 2005).

Meridian Healthcare’s other facilities in the Knowlsey area have also received the investment touch: Fazakerley House in Prescot recently received significant investment and Kirkby House in Kirkby is undergoing a £1m redevelopment.

Roby House offers residential care and care for those with dementia related conditions. The building can accommodate up to 54 residents. As well as larger sized en suite bedrooms Roby House also offers outstanding lounge, dining and quiet areas as well as a hairdressers, relaxation therapy room and a state of the art cinema room.
