JUDGES VISIT FAZAKERLEY HOUSE
08/03/2006
Meridian Healthcare staff and residents welcomed judges from the Pinders / This Caring Business Healthcare Design awards last week when they visited Fazakerly House Care Centre to judge the category of ‘Best Revival Project’.
As one of the three finalists in the category the Meridian team welcomed three judges – This Caring Business Editor Vivien Shepherd, Mark Ellis from Pinders and Martin Green from the ECCA. The judges spent time speaking to all those involved in the project which saw Fazakerley House increase its number of beds from 24 to 30 as well as a full internal refurbishment throughout. To recognise the achievement of being selected as a finalist, Fazakerley House was presented with £500 to donate to a local charity which was gratefully received by Monsignor Dennick of the local Our Lady & St Joseph Church where the money will be used to send sick children and elderly in the community to Lourdes this summer. Care Centre Manager Catherine Atkinson commented, ‘We are delighted to have been nominated and are equally pleased to be able to support such a worthy local cause.’ Also present on the day were Care Centre Manager Catherine Atkinson, Operations Manager Mark Birchenough, Group Operations Director Susan Firth and Meridian Healthcare MD Alan Firth. Fazakerley House / Meridian Healthcare

The Healthcare Design Awards
• The awards are sponsored and run by Pinders and This Caring Business.
• The Healthcare Design Awards seek to acknowledge the contribution made by home owners, designers and architects to the well-being and quality of life for those in their care.
• Whilst architectural standards and innovation are key factors, the overriding test for any project has to be the degree to which it has recognised the needs and desires of the residents and incorporated these into the final design.
