CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS AT MERIDIAN HEALTHCARE

16/12/2005

One of the loveliest times for those in residential or nursing care is Christmas and New Year. Staff and families and children from local schools and churches join residents in celebrating the festive season, bringing cheer and warmth at a time when companionship is so important.

Residents will be celebrating with Christmas parties, carol singing with local churches and schools, sherry and mince pie evenings as well as all the usual activities. Over the past few weeks residents have been making cards, tree decorations and calendars to decorate the care centres in preparation for Christmas time. Christmas mass will also be celebrated.

Staying active and being involved in every day life at the care centres is extremely important for the well being of our residents. A varied activities programme ensures that residents remain active and are provided with both mental and physical stimulation. Residents especially enjoy activities that involve the local community. Carol singing with children from local schools and churches is always an enjoyable event for all those who attend.
