Centenarian Martha Bailey spent her 100th birthday surrounded by family at Meridian Healthcare’s John Joseph Powell Memorial Care Centre.

Celebrations took place at the Prescot Care Centre with five generations of the Bailey family present to join in the memorable day. Martha, widowed since 1948, is a mother of two, grandmother of 7, great grandmother of 19 and great great grandmother of 9!

Originally from Prescot Martha has always been an active member of the local community and made a living making clothes and wedding dresses as well as wedding cakes and decorating, Martha has been a resident at John Joseph Powell Memorial Nursing & Care Centre for the past five years.

After celebrating at the care centre with staff toasting Martha with champagne the party was due to continue all afternoon at the family home.
