Meridian Healthcare acquired John Joseph Powell Memorial Care Centre in Prescot, Knowsley on Friday 22nd July. This latest acquisition takes the group to a total of 1009 beds throughout the North of England.

The group now owns four homes in Knowsley providing a mix of nursing, dementia and residential care. Three other care centres were purchased from Cornerstone Care in 2004, all of which provide residential services. Meridian Healthcare also purchased Ash Court in nearby Liverpool last year.

John Joseph Powell Memorial Care Centre is purpose built and is registered for 38 nursing and 6 palliative care clients. It is understood that staff are delighted to become part of the Meridian Healthcare group. The Meridian Healthcare operations team are also clearly pleased with the acquisition: ‘The care centre is in a great location, it has been well maintained and provides us with the nursing profile we require in the area. John Joseph Powell Memorial has an excellent reputation amongst healthcare professionals and we will look to build upon this.’ Commented Group Operations Director Susan Firth.
