CENTENARY CELEBRATION FOR CATHERINE!

Celebrations were in full swing this week at The Sycamores in honour of Catherine Parker’s 100th birthday. Family, friends, residents and staff were all there to celebrate with Catherine at the care home in Hyde on Wednesday.
Catherine, mother of two has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Catherine has been living at Sycamores since April 2004. Originally from Gorton, Catherine lived with her husband of 40 years. Catherine says, ‘I met my husband promenading in Gorton, all the young boys and girls used to do it. We met in Gorton on Denton Road’. Catherine was employed as an embroiderer working on eiderdowns and cushions in Denton.
Councillor Bill Harris and his wife Councillor Pauline Harris were also present to congratulate Catherine. To mark the occasion Catherine was presented with flowers and a telegram from the Queen.
