Alan Firth and Peter Jackson plant a rose for White Rose House

PETER JACKSON OFFICIALLY OPENS WHITE ROSE HOUSE

White Rose House Nursing and Care Centre was officially opened by Peter Jackson, Team Manager for Huddersfield Town AFC on Wednesday 15th September. Mr Jackson dedicated an award winning fragrant white rose in the gardens of the centre during the opening and presented signed Huddersfield Town shirts to the home, Graham Barber, Site Manager and to Alan Firth, Managing Director of Meridian Healthcare.

Over 60 local social and health care professionals, including members of the Holme Valley Memorial Hospital League of Friends, attended the dedication to celebrate the successful opening of White Rose House. Guests enjoyed canapés and champagne in the private gardens of the care centre whilst enjoying views over the Holme Valley.

White Rose House Nursing and Care Centre provides much needed high quality accommodation for the elderly in the Kirklees area. The new build bucks the trend of home closures throughout the country and provides a significant boost to care provision for the elderly in the Holme Valley area. The new build started in August 2003 behind the Holme Valley Memorial Hospital, and was completed on schedule and to budget in July 2004. It provides 60 superb rooms, all en-suite and many with views out over the Holme Valley.

• Rosa ‘Blanche Double de Coubert’ will be planted during the dedication. This rose has been selected for its fragrant pure white, semi-double flowers and hardy nature.
• White Rose House Nursing and Care Centre provides 60 residential and nursing beds for the elderly.
• Alan Firth, Managing Director of Meridian Healthcare felt that it was important to create links to local sporting and social life in the Holmfirth area. Huddersfield Town being the professional football club for the Kirklees Metropolitan Borough in which the care centre is situated.
• Meridian Care currently operates 7 care centres in Leeds, Scunthorpe, Holmfirth and Knowsley and is seeking to acquire further high quality purpose built facilities • Signed Huddersfield Town AFC shirts were presented to: Graham Barber, Site Manager for Conroy Brook Developments for his outstanding contribution to the successful completion of the building & Alan Firth, Managing Director, Meridian Healthcare, both of whom are life-long supported of the football club.
