Extensive refurbishment work at Kirkby House is underway. Residents and staff will benefit from dramatic changes to the interior layout and specification. 'Our aim to make en suite facilities available to as many of our residents as possible' said Madeline Ward, Manager of Kirkby House. 'Residents and their families will also be amazed at the standard of the interior fixtures and fittings. It is going to be a beautiful home' she continued.

The building work include the addition of 10 new bedrooms which will be available to those with dementia related conditions. Not only will the facility be able to accommodate up to 40 residents, over 70% of rooms able to offer en suite facilities. The work is due to be completed in January 2007.

The improvements taking place will see the number of beds increasing from 30 to 40 with new en suites being added to many rooms. The building will also have a new roof. Extensive internal refurbishment will also take place throughout the care centre with all communal areas and bedrooms being updated with new furniture and fittings.

Fazakerley House in nearby Prescot recently underwent similar changes and has been acclaimed as 'superb' by many healthcare professionals. Meridian Healthcare also recently completed Roby House, registered for 54 residential clients which, opened in July 2006.
