KIRKBY HOUSE EXTENDS FACILITIES
Having completed major refurbishment work earlier this year to transform the tired looking Kirkby House into a first class facility, the home will further its accommodation this summer with the addition of 4 en suite bedrooms, a shower room and a snoozelum.
The project started on the 4th June and is due for completion at the end of August. The investment will allow the care centre to extend its facilities to a wider client group of 44 older people.
Kirkby House currently specialises in residential care for older people with dementia related illnesses, Care Centre Manager Madeleine Ward commented: ‘We are most looking forward to the addition of the snoozelum, we had a relaxation therapy bathroom incorporated when the initial refurbishment was carried out and the residents love it, the lighting and calm atmosphere helps the residents to enjoy time to stimulate and gather their thoughts as well as relax their minds in a quiet environment.’
The extra facilities will make use of an unused drop in centre area, a feature of the original building, the work will be carried out with minimal disturbance to residents and finished to compliment the high standards throughout the rest of the home.
New bedrooms have been created with en suite facilities.
In addition to new bedrooms, a relaxation therapy bathroom with changing ambient lighting has been added. The bath benefits from specialist lifting equipment.
