March 2007 will see the start of work at Meridian Healthcare’s Fazakerley House in Prescot, to extend the popular care centre by 15 en suite bedrooms.

Craig Associates are the appointed Architects on the £1m project which is expected to complete in April 2008. Refurbishment work carried out at Fazakerley House in 2006 saw all bedrooms and communal areas updated with tasteful décor and new furniture and fittings.

Quality of the new extension and internal fit-out is assured as the Meridian home was shortlisted for Pinders 'Best New Extension' in 2006 for the first stage of the upgrade work.

Fazakerley House currently offers residential care for 30 older people. Following the extension, this will increase to 45. All rooms are large, single and fully furnished with television and telephone points as standard, many also feature en suite facilities. Fazakerley House has a number of lounges, dining, quiet areas and beautiful secure gardens for residents to relax and entertain visitors.

The Senior Team at Meridian are delighted with the extension plans. Mark Birchenough, Operations Manager for the Prescot area comments: ‘The extension will enable us to offer our high quality facilities to a larger number elderly people in Prescot. We are working hard to ensure that there is minimum disruption to residents and we are all looking forward to seeing the results.'

The work is part of Meridian's ongoing development programme and comes shortly after the officially re-opening of nearby Kirkby House after its amazing £1million investment programme.
