It is important to us that you feel relaxed and welcome, and that your relatives are confident you are being well supported. We do everything we can to make our care centres a very pleasant place to be, but if there's anything you think we can improve on, we are always keen to hear your comments and suggestions.
Our focus is on quality of life and the active participation of our residents in the development of services and facilities. We take a total service approach which can accommodate the changing requirements of an individual. The types of care we provide are detailed below.
We endeavour, wherever possible, to support the individual in their participation in the local community, whether this be attendance at the local church, maintenance of their GP links or trips out to the seaside.
Our standards and services are measured against the current government standards implemented and inspected by CSCI. All our inspection reports are available on the web - via the CSCI website. However each care centre has the most recent inspection report available for you to read in printed form should you wish to see it.
We continually seek to train our staff to make the most of their experience and skills. In recognition of this, Meridian Healthcare holds the prestigious Investor in People award for all its Care Centres and the maximum five stars in Health and Safety awarded by the British Safety Council.

TYPES OF CARE
Meridian Healthcare care centres provide care for a range of residential and nursing care needs. The following describes the different types of care available in our homes:
Residential Care:Residential care is suitable for those who are finding it difficult to cope at home by themselves or for those who are cared for at home but may require more help than their carer is able to provide. Residential care provides residents with accommodation, meals and personal care. Personal care includes help with everyday routines such as bathing and dressing. Residential care centres do not normally provide nursing care but there are carers available to residents 24 hours a day. Residential care also facilitates the social aspects of life for the elderly in the homes as they are able to enjoy the company of others and take part in activities and social events organised by the home.
Care Home with Nursing:Care homes with nursing provide residents with accommodation, meals, personal care as well as the provision of qualified nursing care, with qualified nurses available at all times. Nursing homes are also able to offer specialist care such as dementia care and EMI (elderly mentally infirm).
Dementia Care/EMI (both nursing and residential):Dementia and dementia-related conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and other conditions with confusion, is an increasing problem for older people and causes additional pressure for families and carers. People suffering from dementia are cared for through close assessment of their needs and with guidance from mental health teams. The care provided in these circumstances is focused on improving the quality of life of the people affected.
Care Centres with both nursing and residential services:Care Centres with nursing are able to provide both residential care and nursing care to residents. This service may be of particular interest if you feel that the resident’s needs, and therefore level of care, may change over time. This option avoids the upheaval and upset of moving to another care home should nursing care be required.
Respite Care (both nursing and residential):Respite care is short-term care that can be used to give carers a break or at times when carers are unavailable. This is of particular benefit when families or carers need a well-deserved break. A dedicated team provides care during the break period.
